Since the outbreak of Covid-19, students have been facing challenges, making student well-being an increasingly discussed topic. However, educational institutions find it difficult to provide the necessary support to these students. In order to find a solution to this problem, NHL Stenden has chosen Enigmatry as a partner to develop a special dashboard: a student and teacher dashboard and app, including a study coach monitor, better known as Your Own Space (YOS).
YOS offers more than just support for student well-being. The custom application consists of three modules, each focusing on its own target audience: students, study coaches, and teachers.
YOS Student.
Goes beyond the standard student app. It provides a dashboard with a quick overview of schedule information (including schedule changes), study progress, study components, exams the student is enrolled in, and recently achieved results. What makes this application unique is the interconnection between the different modules. This allows a student to schedule appointments with their study coach by signing up for time slots, email with a direct question with just one click, or record notes that, if desired, are visible to the study coach. This eliminates the barrier that students at NHL Stenden experienced in reaching out to a study coach.
YOS Study Coach.
Was specially developed for study coaches to better monitor students' study progress and well-being. The comprehensive platform provides a quick overview of the students a study coach is guiding. In addition to displaying study progress and study pace, it is possible to collaboratively record notes and schedule appointments with the student. The alert function ensures that students are not overlooked. For example, if a student has not had an appointment for more than three months, YOS issues a notification to schedule something. Also, if a student has not achieved results for an extended period, the study coach receives a notification. YOS Study Coach provides insight and overview for study coaches.
YOS Teacher.
Planned as the next step, with the aim of providing insight and overview to teachers. Direct integration with YOS Study Coach ensures that teachers with a dual role do not have to log in to two systems.
The teams at NHL Stenden and Enigmatry worked together to find the best solution for every need that NHL Stenden had. The integration of various systems within NHL Stenden is facilitated by a data integration layer in Microsoft Azure. This layer connects various source systems, including Xedule, Blackboard, Outlook, and Progress, to achieve seamless system integration. We are proud of this collaboration and even prouder of the (preliminary) result.
